A couple of weeks ago, as the season drew to a close, it was time for the Turnford family to come together at the annual awards evening and celebrate what has been a fantastic year. Where to start? The successes came from the very top with our national Prem 1 Team – all the way down to the tiny little U8 girls. Here are some of the highlights:

England Netball National Club Champs – U16 & U14:

Both teams did their club, region, county, parents and themselves proud by coming away with the Bronze medals. We are so very proud of you all girls! W.I.N

Prem 1

National Prem 1:
The 2014/2015 season was the first in the history of the club in this top flight division. The team fought hard and had some fantastic victories and some disappointing defeats. But the team stayed strong, ended the season with a big win and most importantly ended in a position that means we are HERE TO STAY!

U8 to U13:
There really are so many proud moments to mention for the junior section of club. From the ability to field SEVEN teams in the U8/U9 age group in the summer league at Turnford to numerous tournament victories and league winning performances from EVERY age group.

The trophy cabinet really is heaving at the end of the 2014/2015 season. But much more importantly we had so much fun! Take a look at this video to see just what a great year it really was.

Awards Evening

awarsd eve

We really are proud of how well the club is supported by its members and awards evening was a great testament to this. As you can see from the above photo it really was a packed house. Before the parents hit the dance floor to impress (embarrass) their children it was time for the awards. On this evening, the teams are presented with the awards for any leagues they have won as well as there being awards for the most improved in each team and the the most outstanding in each year group. The awards were presented by Turnford’s England U21 player Georgina Fisher. Here is an overview of the awards:

Young Umpires

Before the year group awards were given out the club recognised the newest young umpires from the club. Our volunteers are the heart of the club and it really is heartwarming that so many of the girls want to give back to the club by umpiring and coaching the younger teams. This year’s new umpires were:

Volunteer of The Year

Emma Ferns

We could not end a review of the year without a few words from our Head Coach – Carole Titmuss:

“Another great year for Turnford with every player taking on board our new slogan Work hard with Intensity and Never give up. It is difficult to chose one high point because there were so many. From the very young members winning their first tournament – then looking to the U14s and U16s gaining the bronze medal at the club nationals through to our National Premier squad remaining in the first division of this very prestigious league. We are so proud of every member and volunteer that make our Turnford family a joy to be part of. I would however make a special mention of Emma Ferns who has moved us into the right direction with the introduction of our much improved website”

And with that – it was time for the ‘Cha Cha Slide’ to get underway – slide to the left…
