This past weekend a number of Turnford Senior teams were putting on the Black and Yellow dresses and preparing to take to the court. Below are the match reports from the coaches of the National Prem 1, Regional and Herts Prem 1 teams. 3 big wins were achieved as the teams battle for strong positions in the league tables.

Runaway Regional Success

The weekend kicked off on Saturday with the Regional squad playing their match against local rivals Hertford Hornets. This really was a no contest match as Turnford took the match 54:20. This was a total team effort with all on focus and everyone playing their part. Special mention must be made of centre Emily Gulvin who never stopped moving, intercepting and placing the ball well into the shooting circle.

The squad consisted of Natalie Richardson,Lottie Morrison, Scarlett Barnes, Jasmine Hatherly, Emily Gulvin, Laura O’mahoney, Georgia Satwick, Beth Hatherly and Abi Naugher.

Herts Premier 1
This was followed by a Herts Premier league 1 match. The girls were missing some key players but again the girls worked hard enough to gain a win 34:23 against Buntingford.

The squad consisted of Emily Carrington, Jas Hatherly, Jas Bowman, Aimee Hatley, Niamh Burns, Phoebe Gillen and Abi Hackett.

Moving On Up

Sunday was the perfect end to a great netball weekend.The National Premier League 1 match was on home ground against Leeds Athletic and the squad certainly kept the supporters on the edge of their seats. At the end of the first quarter Turnford trailed 11:15. The second quarter the squad dug deep to pull back their deficit and pulled forward to lead 25:24. Coach Ann-Marie Dwyer was able to call on the fresh legs of the strong bench and replaced centre Sophie Carter with Captain Kathryn Titmuss and Holly Sims with Clare Drakeford. At the end of the third quarter Turnford led by 36:32 and so it continued and although Turnford had taken their foot of the pedal they had still done enough to take the match 45:42.

Squad : Hayley Mackeller, Bea Skingsley, Sam May, Saarah Davies, Kathryn Titmuss, Sophie Carter, Clare Drakeford, Holly Sims, Lottie Morrison and Georgina Fisher.

Turnford are now relishing their time in this very competitive and high level netball league and have moved up 4th position in the table. Turnford’s next match will be 14th December against the Downs from the South. This is an exhibition match and tickets are available now so come along and support the black and yellows!!!
