Match report from Head Coach, Carole Titmuss
The national journey started at the Hertfordshire rounds progressing via the regional rounds to take their place at the National Finals at the Redbridge Sports Centre in Essex, two weekends ago. From over 100 clubs that took part, Turnford proudly took their place in the final 18, being one of the two teams that represented the East of England.
The team had a superb tournament. Saturday saw us win 4 out of 4 games played. Beating Oaksway from Hartlepool 58:25, Woodley from Berkshire 32:22, Sleaford Barge from Lincolnshire 54:15, Oldham 39:23. This put us comfortably through on the Sunday to play for a top six position. The pooling system saw Turnford in a group with Thameside from the north and Telstars from Kent.
The first match against Tameside was a close encounter, with Tameside taking the match by only three goals 34:37. Despite a strong win against Telstars 37:22, This meant that we were now playing for third and fourth position and the opportunity of a bronze medal.
Turnford were back on top winning form against Leeds Athleting in the play off for 3/4, taking the game by a huge margin 43:21. Turnford can take some consolation in knowing that they had comfortably beaten the eventual winners.
Quote from Head Coach Carole Titmuss: I have been with this squad since they were eight years of age, and am so proud of not just this national tournament but their complete journey through the Junior section of Turnford Netball Club. to where they are now. They are a credit to both club and parents.
Editor’s Note: The girls and their parents would also like to thank Coach Carole and the wider coaching team for all of their efforts and hard work with the team!
